How does a Solvent inkjet digital printer work?

Solvent printing is based on several steps:

File preparation

  • A digital file (text, image, or design) is created or imported into printing software. Settings (dimensions, colors, media type) are configured, and the file is then sent to the printer.

Media loading

  • The material to be printed (aluminum, PVC, etc.) is placed on the printer bed. A jig system holds the media in place to prevent any movement during printing.

Ink application

  • The printheads spray droplets of solvent ink onto the media. Solvent ink consists of pigments and solvents that interact with the surface to ensure long-lasting adhesion. Unlike UV inks, solvent inks do not dry immediately, but their adhesion is facilitated by a built-in heating module.

Drying and curing

  • During ink application, the heating device helps evaporate the solvents, allowing the ink to fix quickly to the surface. This rapid drying ensures a durable finished product resistant to outdoor conditions.

Final result

  • The printing is complete as soon as it leaves the printer, without any additional drying time. The finished product is immediately ready for use.

Advantages of our Solvent digital printing machines

  • ADVANTAGES

Very good adhesion on various surfaces: printing without a coating allows for better direct interaction between the ink and the material.

Natural printing: the ink penetrates the surface of the material, offering a more natural and authentic effect. This preserves the original textures and characteristics of the material, especially on surfaces like wood, leather, or other natural materials.

Durability: resistant to scratches, rain, heat, wear, and UV rays.

Flexibility and versatility: ideal for various applications, ranging from outdoor signage to product customization such as labels, aluminum plates, stickers, or vinyl films. Suitable for untreated materials, such as certain types of plastic or metal.

Reduction of environmental impact: eco-solvent inks are designed to be more environmentally friendly while maintaining excellent print quality.

Versatility in applications: can be used to print directly on a variety of substrates, allowing for greater freedom and diversified applications.

  • APPLICATIONS

Outdoor signage: printing of outdoor panels and banners. Ideal for store signage, advertising boards, and posters visible outdoors.

Stickers and decals: create custom stickers and decals for various uses.

Vehicle customization: truck fleets, race cars, commercial vehicles, and others.

Surface marking and decoration: allows for marking and decorating various surfaces such as plastic, metal, glass, and wood.

Custom labels: production of custom labels in many sectors such as the food industry, cosmetics, or electronics.

Window and sign decoration: produce stickers and window films.

Industrial applications: marking of manufacturer plates, machine facades, and the printing of technical graphics or safety information.

Small-batch printing and prototyping: printing of promotional samples, personalized objects, etc.
