How does a Pro pad printing machine work?

Automatic pad printing machines are fully automated. This means that the inking, transferring, and pad cleaning process can be controlled without manual intervention.

Here are the operating steps for automatic pad printing:

Cliché preparation

The cliché (made of steel or photopolymer) is engraved with the design or text to be marked.

Inking

When a printing cycle begins, the ceramic ring of the ink cup spreads the ink uniformly over the cliché, removing excess ink and leaving ink only in the engraved areas. Only the areas to be printed will be inked.

Ink transfer

A silicone pad picks up the ink from the recessed area of the plate, then presses it onto the object.

Printing on the object

The pad, loaded with ink, is then pressed against the object’s surface, reproducing the design or text engraved in the plate. Thanks to its flexibility, it adapts perfectly to the shape of the object, even if it is curved, irregular, or difficult to print. The pressure applied by the machine ensures precise ink transfer, thereby guaranteeing a uniform, high-quality print.

Ink drying

After transfer, the ink is dried either by natural evaporation or through a heating tunnel drying system, depending on the material of the object.

Next cycle

Once printing is complete, the pad is lifted and returned to its initial position, and the inking and transfer process begins again for each subsequent cycle.
